Does anyone have any information on the 8th Air Force 491st BG 852nd BS, especially crew #R27 that was stationed at North Pinkenham, England?
Thanks!

Sorry Barbie,
Not my area of speciality, I'm afraid. Does the unit still exist? Have you contacted the USAF? There usually is a unit historian who can help you with direct enquiries such as this, and might give you further info on specific aircraft/airframes. As you have the number it shouldn't be too difficult to track the aircraft and aircrew through official channels.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness. I did check with some AF groups etc., but just didn't get as much info as I would like to have. I also contacted the place where the records are kept, I believe the NARA or something like that and it seems a fire in the 70's ruined a lot of records from WW II time till sometime in the 60's or so and they weren't backed up in any way. My Dad who was in that Squadron didn't talk about the war (like a lot of other's) and unfortunately he passed away quite suddenly in 1983. Thanks again!
