Hi!
I just stumbled over this picture of a biplane on the net.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n149/montanamotor/JSJ_Fairey_Fantomne.jpg
The only information I could get was, that it was a british fighter aircraft prototype of a type which later wasn't chosen for line production.
I-have-no-idea!
What type is it? It's NEAT!
Any data availlable?
Cheers!

Hi Montana,
It's the Fairey Fantome

Mind you, with a Belgian designer and Hispano engine it was not all that British!

Cool ... an English aircraft designed by a Belgian using a Spanish-Frence engine. Maybe the propeller was Czechoslovakian? Who can say?
Pretty interesting-looking aircraft ... and obscure, so I like it.

...and you see those little non-skid pads on top of the wheel pants? You guessed it, 'Made in Japan' [:o)]

Back in those days, the Europeans didn't even know where Japan was - or what it was - or how it was spelled...
This changed very rapidly only after December 7th, 1941.
Back to basics: Could it be possible that, there were TWO INDEPENDENT Fairey-aircraft companies in existence in Europe in the 1930ies?
The link from Chris dedicatedly speaks of a BELGIAN Fairey-company. Up to now, I always thought that, there was only that Fairey Aviation Co Ltd company based in Hayes (Middlesex) and Heaton Chapel/Ringway in Greater Manchester.

But - belgian Faireys? [8)] Go kidding... - or not?
Cheers! [:I]
