Time for a spot of role-play, I feel. You've all just been sucked into your computers and spat out in a flight suit somewhere in WWII thanks to those meddling americans and their Philadelphia experiment.

Question: Where would you be, When would you be, What would you be flying (or would you rather be observer/bomber/gunner?).

A silly question, but I thought it would be fun for some games.

Hi, Corsarius!
What's a nice question!
You all know inside of us live small boy dreaming about something great. And if your dreams can't come true, no one can stop you going through your dream! I dreamed to be a fighter pilot, but couldn't do... as to go to due the health, it might only some of my age due rough selection to flying military school. Anyway I did... not as fighter pilot I dreamed. After graduating from High Flying Military School in Aktyubinsk, Kazakhstan I flew a while on An12 4eng aircraft and after this have been an air traffic controller in Aktau, westen Kazakhstan for 6 years. Sure I miss the air and I do thank people who created IL-2 game. It's the first real combat simulator ever made. Flying in fighter missions you feel something that probably felt people 50 years ago in their cokpits. It's fun, feeling yourself a virtual hero, unsurpassed ACe! By the way I would like to take a part in competition that goes in Moscow once a year. First prize in IL-2's dogfight 5000$! Sure not because of money if you see...
Up the topic, dear comrades! Sure I would like to be a fighter pilot, does not matter where, somewhere where it was "hot", In cocpit of Spitfire (of course in the air!) while Pirl Harbor was attacking. Or Hallcat's pilot while the battles over Pacific. Sure I would very much like to be in cocpit of I-16 or Mig-3 by the moment the WAR began and to help Soviet Air Forces.

To shoose among all fighters I would prefer P-39Q-1 or La-7 (3cannon version). I like them very much both.

In any case I'd be happy to be there as only a virtual pilot and to know and to feel that you could only shut down a plane, NOT people.

One more thing here was a lady named Lucycat, her "And why are there only guys in this site". I'm not happy, gents, you paied too small attantion to her... we lost lady! [:X] It would be interesting to listen out her opinion in this topic. ;) By the way in Soviet Air force served some ACes women and quite successfully - up to 17 official victories! We have not to undervalue ladies, gents. Hope she will join our discution here soon...
OK. I told about myself and think it could be a good fiture if everyone would tell somehow as well.

What about you, Mr.Corsarius?

You mean what would I be doing if I WASN'T flying Me-163s with JG-400?

I'd say I'd be flying D-3801 fighters with the Fliegertruppe, and taking on all comers: German, French, Italian, British, and American. After all, Neutrality must be defended!

A nice shot of a D-3801

In the Pacific flying a Grumman F8F Bearcat against the Japanese in 1945 ... if I wanted the best propeller airplane.

Or anywhere in Eurpoe flying a Spitfire 21 ... if I wanted more combat.

Of my REAL pick, right now in the F-22 Development Squadron.

In my dreams I fly everything that has wings - or even has none, if it is a freak project. For me, it makes no sense to compete with German fighter pilots of WWII, they are out of reach. What I prefer is to meddle in the Battle of the Atlantic, using a Messerschmitt Me 364 with six pusher engines and additionally four Jumo 004 jets, so making my huge airplane comparable to the B-36 and letting it go 730 km/h, thus letting it outrun any Hellcat or Corsair sent after me from the Allied carriers down below. As I am romantic, I enjoy flying into the sunset. Sorry if I only can give you an impression by an aircraft that is in my eyes somehow inferior:

But finding myself over a land target and the hell breaks loose with AA shell bursts filling the air over and over, the romantic is gone:
