Does anyone have any information on this design, it was competing against the Hawker Sea Fury and was apparently preferred but there was no spare manufacturing capacity.
All I know is that it was to be powered by a RR Exe (presumably RR would have restarted development).

The Folland aircraft that lost out in the end to the Hawker Fury was the Folland Fo.117.
This started out in answer to spec. F.6/42 which was in essence a 'light fighter' to counter the Fw-190, fighters then were growing too big and heavy.
The aircraft was to be powered by a Centauras Xll of 2,125 hp, rather than the Exe you mentioned.
'What probably killed the Fo.117, which seemed to offer a superior speed and rate of climb over its Hawker competitor, was that the data figures were estimates'. Also being that Follands were only a small firm and therefore didn't have the production expertise - didn't help.
