I'm looking for any information on Albert Zum Mallen. He instructed fighter pilots for WW2 in the southern region. He is a member of the Quiet Birdmen Illinois Chapter and recently passed away as of August 30th,2003. He is my Grandfather and i know very little of his days of instructing. Any information regarding him would be swell. feel free to e-mail me. Thank you.

To be completely honest we're unlikely to be able to help you Hannah, although there was a success story just before Christmas along these sort of lines so you may be lucky.
However to even begin to help you we'll probably need a lot more information.
The absolute minimum would be full name, rank, service number and service, however anything else would be helpful, where he served, when, how long, which squadrons he belonged to, anything like that may trigger a memory or help, the best we're likely to be able to do though will be to point you in the right direction to look for more information.
Good luck!

*What i know is that he was a Captain and wanted to be a fighter pilot but he was too tall. He instructed in North Carolina, Alabama/Georgia and other places in the southern United States. I will try to find out more about his service number and such from my grandma. Thank you. (I don't know if this will help, but he was about 6 feet tall with brown hair, and his nickname was "old dumbo ears" because supposedly he had big ears)
