Nice forum you've got here. Hope you can help me out.

I've been reading a bit up on 190A-4 and 190A-8 and found out that the A-4 is faster than the A-8 but I found some weird information regarding the power-boost system in A-4.

Now,according to my source the A-4 max speed should be 670 km/h(416mph) WITH WM50 boost. The A-8 speed should be 656 km/h (408mph)with GM I boost. Well, the A-4 didn't have MW50 boost, only the ability to use it so I'm not sure if the 670 km/h is WITH or WITHOUT MW50 boost. Can anyone tell me what the max speed of A-4 is whithout MW50?

Peter G. Cooksley's Focke-Wulf Fw 190A specifically states that the A-4 did have MW50, except for the A-4/R6 subtype, which was fitted with rocket tubes but deleted the MW50.

My book, 'German Warplanes of WWII', Chris Chant, also says that the FW190A-4 had MW50-boost but Manfred Griehl's book on FW190 don't mention MW50 boost for A-4 at all. Also, I've been checking up some sites which says it hadn't MW50 installed - only capable.

Reference The MW50 Booster on the Fw190 A4.
Here is a reference pubished in 1958, in Japan titled "Aireview's
German Military Aircraft in The Second World War" it is as follows:
"Powered by a BMW801D2 engine of the maximum 2,100 hp, and with a MW50 booster, A-4 reached a high speed of 660 km/h (410 mph) at 6,000 m ( 19,000 ft. ) .Variants of A-4 included A-4/Trop for tropical operations, A-4/R6 and A-4/U8 for fighter-bomber missions. etc."
sorry it does not mention if the booster was installed on all production models of the Fw 190 A4
